Municipal clients have a formidable list of requirements, a multi-level system of government approvals and strictly limited funds. With all of these concerns, it is not unusual for municipal construction projects to experience significant challenges. But at the end of the day all stakeholders want the same thing: public service buildings that facilitate an important role in a community – to protect and serve its residents.
Disciplined processes help to keep municipal projects on track.
At Unitech, we understand that municipal governments are responsible to the electorate, and that local residents and businesses must be kept informed. We also understand that any number of elements can threaten to derail a municipal project at any moment.
Unitech uses disciplined processes and innovative problem solving to make the process as smooth as possible. With a clear focus on the finish line, we ensure that all critical information is presented at public forum meetings, including a comprehensive construction schedule with the date of completion.
We establish a clear method for handling any changes that arise from user groups and owners, and assist with finding efficient solutions to problems quickly. Senior staff members work closely with municipal employees and project volunteers to ensure accuracy and quality.
Transparency comes standard at Unitech.
We embrace transparent, open public tendering requirements. More than 95% of Unitech’s projects have been government-funded. Open public tendering and full compliance with TILMA (Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement), AIT (Agreement on Internal Trade), NWP (New West Partnership) and other open tendering legislation is our standard procedure.
Local trades are given the opportunity to bid on the project, and all tenders are provided to the municipal client to make the final decision. We ensure that all specifications are met and that all trade contractor comply with Health and Safety and building code standards prior to awarding of the contract.
